Senka Vlahović is a visual artist, illustrator and book designer, author of theoretical books on illustration and Art Director at the Banat Cultural Centre from New Miloševo. She was born in 1985 in Novi Sad.
She graduated in Applied Photography at the Higher Education Technical School of Professional Studies in Novi Sad, where she also specialized in book illustration. She received her Master’s Degree in the field of Creating an Image in Art and Media from the Academy of Arts in Belgrade.
She is a member of the Associations of Applied Arts and Designers Association of Serbia (ULUPUDS) and Matica srpska.
She won the ULUPUDS award for the best book in the field of visual communication theory at the book fair in Belgrade, the ULUPUDS Annual Award for Creativity in 2017 and the ULUPUDS Annual Award for Creativity in 2020.
She was the founder, director and jury member of the Book illustration festival “BookILL Fest” in Novi Sad, Serbia.
So far, she has published seven books (four theoretical books in the field of illustration and three artistic books combining text, illustration and design):
- “VIDEO-ILLUSTRATION OF BOOKS: A New View on Illustration and Image-Building of Books in Public” (for this book she received an AWARD for best book in the category of theory of visual communications, at the 60th International Book Fair in Belgrade in 2015),
- “ILLUSTRATION SPEAKS ALL LANGUAGES: Awards of the Book Illustration Festival BookILL fest 2012–2017”,
- "Venus of Banat and Hero Dimitry" (text, illustrations and design: Senka Vlahović, the book is accompanied by an exhibition with the same name) and
- "Anthology of Future Dreams: an artist's book" (text, illustrations and design: Senka Vlahović, the book is accompanied by an exhibition with the same name).
Senka Vlahović is the director and screenwriter of the video illustration of the book "Evening Nude in Lenka Dunđerski's Maiden Room", based on the book of poems of the same name by Radovan Vlahović, which was published on DVD together with her theoretical book "Video Illustration of the Book", as well as with the second edition the poetry book of the same name to which it refers.
She participated at the International Symposium on Illustration, at the Biennial of Illustration Bratislava in 2015, 2017, 2019. and 2021.
She was a member of the international jury of the Biennial of Illustration Bratislava, Slovakia 2017.
She is a jury member for the Award for the most beautiful book “Zaharije Orfelin” at the Novi Sad Fair, Serbia.
She is the author of the exhibition "Contemporary Serbian Children's Books Illustrators", which was held in "Bibiana" in Bratislava in 2019 with the support of the Embassy of the Republic of Serbia in Slovakia, and in Belgrade in 2020.
She has published scientific papers and texts on illustration in books and magazines.
She designed and illustrated covers for over 600 books published by Banat Cultural Centre in Novo Miloševo.
She held 30 solo exhibitions and participated in many group exhibitions in Serbia and abroad. She held about 30 projections of her video works in Serbia and abroad.
She is a founder and member of the editorial board of the Electronic Magazine for Youth Literature and Art “Rez”.
In the framework of the activities of the BKC, she organizes numerous cultural events: manifestations, book promotions, exhibitions, scientific conventions, presentations at book fairs etc.
She currently lives and works in Novo Miloševo, Serbia.
